Testing Accommodations

Test Accommodations

For students seeking accommodations on GED exams, the following should be considered based on a valid diagnosis of AD/HD and the judgment of a psychologist or physician:

  • Extended time to review and correct work, compensating for impulsiveness
  • Private room to minimize distraction
  • Supervised breaks to minimize adverse effects of restlessness and a tendency to rush through the test when the person feels it is taking too much time to complete
  • Other accommodations as indicated for individual candidates

A student who has a current or previous ADHD diagnosis can ask whomever made the diagnosis (physician, psychologist or psychiatrist) to complete the "Request for Testing Accommocations - Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder" form. The form is available by clicking on the GED section link below with a request for testing accommodations the professional deems appropriate. Otherwise, the student can inquire about being tested/assessed to confirm or rule out ADHD.

See CASAS, TABE or GED section for additional information.
